NHEF Scholarship: The application is open for the 2024 Nigerian Higher Education Foundation (NHEF) Next Generation scholars for students of Nigerian Universities.
Every year, the NHEF selects talented young Nigerians attending our Partner Universities who have demonstrated exceptional academic performance and a well-rounded involvement in both professional and extracurricular activities. These individuals undergo rigorous career training and skill-building exercises aimed at fostering their long-term career advancement.

About the NHEF Scholars Program
The NHEF Scholars Program serves as an early career acceleration initiative offering a range of opportunities to Scholars selected from our Partner Universities. Each participant undergoes a week-long orientation program designed to provide essential career development training, aiding in their smooth integration into the global job market.
Throughout the NHEF Scholars Program, individuals receive intensive training led by carefully chosen international facilitators. Following this, Scholars engage in internship placements at our Partner Firms, typically lasting 6 to 8 weeks. Additionally, they follow a comprehensive curriculum aimed at fostering ongoing personal and professional growth.

Requirements for the NHEF Scholars Program
Below are the eligibility requirements for the NHEF scholars program. Applicants must be:
- Students from partner universities
- Scholars in their penultimate year. 300L for 4 years program or 400L for 5 years program.
- Students with academic excellence and demonstrated excellence in professional pursuit
- Individuals with a strong commitment to community development

How to Apply
Below are step-by-step application procedures:
Step 1: Log on to the NHEF application portal: https://portal.thenhef.org/.
Step 2: Register by creating an account on the portal: enter your first and last name, email address, phone number, and password.
Step 3: After registering, verify your email address by checking the inbox of the email address you registered with. Click the link or copy the URL to your internet browser.
Step 4: Once your account has been validated, log in using the email address and password you created.
Step 5: Proceed to the application by clicking on the APPLY tab from the dashboard.
Step 6: Complete all the bio-data information and the program essay questions on the application page.
Step 7: Candidates should be prepared to upload the following supporting documents: a one-page Curriculum Vitae (CV), a one-page Cover Letter and the most recent Statement of Result (All in PDF format).
Step 8: Review application responses and submit them.
Note: We suggest that interested candidates should have the responses to the application questions already filled on a separate document, e.g., Word Document, so it will be easier to copy and paste their responses into the application answer box. This is because the application cannot be saved. Hence, it must be filled and submitted at once.
How to Know a Successful Application
Please take note of the following ways to confirm the successful submission of the application:
- The applicant’s dashboard will show this message upon application submission: “Scholars Program – Application Submitted on YY-MM-DD and the time it was submitted”.
- An email confirmation stating that the application has been successfully submitted will be sent to the applicant’s email address.
- Also, when the Scholars Program application tab on the dashboard is clicked, it will no longer be accessible.
The above three steps are how applicants can know if their application has been submitted successfully.
